I finished another canvas today.  They are pretty additive.  This one I did with another girl from the blog http://gabriellepollacco.blogspot.ca/2012/06/mixed-media-canvas-with-video-tutorial.html.  As I said before she is so wonderful to supply us with tutorials and patterns.  The verse that I used was on a pack of rub ons from Kaiser. It says "The dance is a poem of which each movement is a word."  Enjoy.

Never grows old.

Well, this 8x10" canvas has been a learning project.  But as a wise woman said to me "Its the end result that counts"  I thought I would post this before I start picking it apart like I always do.  The canvas was covered with Tim Holtz tissue paper and then painted various colors .  I tried to stamp one of Donna Downey's foam stamps on but with out much success so I just used my paint brush to fill them in.  I used Golden Paints on this canvas except for the white which is Ceramcoat.  When I use to do Folk Art painting it is the only paint I would use.  It covers really nice but on this piece I wanted something a little more transparent so I used the Goldens.  The verse is a stamp from Magenta.  The leaves are from Dylusions.  So I have a hodge podge of things on this but you know what "I like it"  Hope you enjoy it too.

Stand Out

I should be wrapping presents but here I am playing with a She Art Girl.  This one is a little different than the others that I have been playing with.  It has more cut and paste.  I got this pattern from a site called http://gabriellepollacco.blogspot.com/2012/06/mixed-media-fun-with-bo-bunny-template.html.  She is so generous to supply us with her tutorials and patterns.  She does the most beautiful work.  I didn't like how the lines looked so I covered everything with stickles.  lol  It looks a lot better now.

Birth of a She Art Girl

Thought I would show you the steps on how I did my first She Art girl.  It was a lot of fun and I am definately looking to do another one.  I used the same size canvas as the Santa one and I used the same technique for the background.
After I finished the background I cut pages from an old dictionary into the shape I needed for my girl

I fitted designer paper to make her clothes

I tried again after deciding I didn't like the first papers.  I added ruffles to the bottom of the skirt

New arms was needed and I started to glue down the girl

Here she is glued down

I drew some hair using my Fiber Castle pen and outlined the image.  I added some rub ons.  You definately need those

I decided I used too wide a pen to outline her and she looks pretty plump.  What to do, what to do!

Hey, a bigger head was needed.  Now she doesn't look so fluffy.  I wish I would have gotten a better picture.  One not so shiney.  But it was my first one and I am looking forward to the next.

Santa Canvas

I have been playing with my Pan Pastels again.  This time it is Santa.  The taller Santa looks like he might have been out partying a little too late.  Tis the Season to be Jolly!!  lol  The canvas is a small one only 4"x6".  The Santa heads are a stamp set from KK Originals called Santa set.  Thats original, don't you think.  lol  Sometimes I crack myself up.  :) I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut them out.  Yes, thats right Santa brought me a Cameo.  I love it.  I must have been realllllly good this year.  ;)

Karen Garrard's Mini Album

The cover closes with a magnet under the tab.

first page is actually two half pages.  Inside cover on left side has a pocket

Half the first page open.  I put a pocket on the second half

second page

Third page--another pocket

Forth page is three tags

The back inside of the album.
I have a new follower, Karen Garrard.  I checked out her blog.  OMG!! was I surprised to find what I did.  She does the most amazing things and faboulous video tutorials.  I am so glad she found me.  Here is a little album I made using her tutorial.  If these papers look familar, I am trying to use up the papers I had left over from making the Gift album.  I am not sure I ever will. This album is like a tri fold card.  Some pages open from the left and some from the right.   It was quick and easy.  It can't get any better than that.

Glad today is over

What a day.  I am totally exhausted.  I worked all day on five, count them five, ornaments.  They were on the front of a Stampin Up catalog and all of us Meade Stampers fell in love with them but what a PITA.  Now I find out that they sell kits to make them.  And cheap too.  I could have gone the rest of my life with out hearing that.  Tomorrow, well I guess I better finish my Christmas cards.  I have put that off for too long.

Christmas Journal Page

I finally finished the journal page that I had been working on.  I have a million things to do but it was calling me.  As you all know I took Dyan Reaveleys class.  I really still enjoy doing this messy art.  Friday night I took Donna Downey's class.  Another messy one.  I have to work on those pan pastels.  So you won't be seeing anything from that class soon.  lol  And then there is Christy Tomlinson.  Am I seeing a pattern here.  I think so.  I am definately getting to use all the embossing paste that I bought a long time ago up to the Amish country.  I used the transparent pearlescent on the snowflakes.  I love it.  I bought it to use on cards and never did.  It is good to know it is getting used instead of setting in my closet.  Any way I thought I would just show you the journal page.  Enjoy

Art Journal

Today I finished my journal cover.  I have been planning on doing this forever.  I am pretty pleased with the way it came out.  I  got a book called Collage Couture to help learn how to make Fashionable Art (The girl).  I am really enjoying them.  Lots to learn though.  So this cover is a combination of Dyan Reaveley's techniques (the background) and Collage couture.  Now just to get it filled with wonderful things that I plan to try.  Enjoy

More dylusional

I have to tell you I LOVE making these cards.  You do get inky for sure.  I can't wait to take the class at the Queen's Ink that Dyan Reaveley is going to teach.  It is going to be so fun.  Here is a video of her working the line at the factory.

A Gift

I made an album for a friend.  She fell in love with this when she saw it on the net.  I hope she likes it.  This is the utube video where she saw it.  thttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeqCZTGvc4s&feature=relmfuhis   Don't ask me why these pictures decided to turn themselves sideways.  I have tried everything I know to turn them right.  Guess I will have to get my daughter over here.

Gift Cards for Queens Ink.

I have been making a few cards for the Queens Ink for their gift cards.  I am trying to do Dyan Reaveley's way.  I am not sure I am doing things correctly but I am having a great time doing it.  I love the little hats on the birds.

Breast cancer awareness

Paper Craft Planet ( http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/sassystudiodesigns/forum/topics/fabulous-freebie-friday-10-5-12) is having a challenge to make a card for Breast Cancer awareness.  Sassy Studio Designs (http://sassystudiodesigns.blogspot.com/) has supplied the free image for this challenge and and gives one every friday.  So I combined the free image with another that they had to make my card.  I cut and combined them in Photoshop.  I didn't put a greeting on the outside.  (I couldnt decide where to put it)  But the inside says "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.   And I have known some pretty strong ladies in my time.  I colored the image with Copic Markers and used Stampin Up glitter on the ribbon and around the image.  I love this fine glitter.  I wanted my pinks to match so the pink mat is a piece of white cardstock that I colored around the edges with a copic marker.

Tea Time

Last weekend some friends and I went for tea at the Moulin De Paris in Passadena.  It was so great.  Not only great food but great company as well.  Our napkins were tied up with a pink ribbon so we decided that we would make a card using the ribbon.  Here is mine.  I couldn't get the pinks to match and what a time trying to do something with this ribbon!

Inside the card says "I cannot sit and chat with you the way I'd like to do, so brew yourself a cup of tea, I'll think of you, you think of me."

Design team card for Sassy Design Studio's

I don't know what I am getting myself into but a few friends are on design teams and they seem to enjoy it.  So I will give it a try.  So this is the card that I am submitting to Sassy Design Studio.  I don't know if I am hoping I get on or not.  Geez, this is kind of scary.
